Ximedica to Present at Plastics in Medical Devices 2010

March 5, 2010

Vice President of Program Management Michael Pereria will be presenting at the 2010 Plastics in Medical Devices conference at the LaCentre Conference & Banquet Facility in Cleveland, Ohio from April 12-14.

The subject of his presentation will be Balancing The Design Process to Successfully Deliver on the Needs of Multiple Users.

The practice of seeking out, documenting, and prioritizing end user needs is widely accepted in most medical device design and development processes. But too often, those processes can take a single-minded view of the users by placing an inordinate focus on the clinicians only. Other stakeholders—such as those involved in a particular product’s procurement, setup, disposal, sterilization—will be affected by the myriad design and engineering choices made along the way, but their voices are often undervalued or under-represented. Likewise, other business functions such as downstream manufacturing, regulatory, and reimbursement, can be considered “users” of the design process output and therefore need to be fully integrated early and  all along the way in order to optimize product success.  Michael Pereira, VP of Program Management at Ximedica, will present his viewpoint on successfully bringing products from the earliest concept stages to the hands of the users, based on the company’s decades of experience and hundreds of end-to-end programs.
