Vapotherm® Precision Flow®

Precision Flow® is a comprehensive High Flow Therapy Device that integrates heating, humidification and gas blending in one device without causing discomfort to the nasal cannula. Used for a broad range of conditions, Vapotherm provides a non-invasive form of respiratory assistance that improves patient compliance and comfort and offers an alternative to more costly and complex therapies.

Challenge:

Vapotherm approached Ximedica looking to improve on their current 2000i device to include broader functionality, additional safety features and ease of use.

Solution:

Using extensive user input from respiratory customers and doctors, Ximedica redesigned the device to solve performance issues and address safety and cost effectiveness concerns.

In addition Ximedica was responsible for the design, engineering and manufacture of this device, allowing for an earlier market release date than was anticipated.
Vapotherm has established a new standard in High Flow Oxygen Therapy with the launch of Precision Flow. It is the first high flow therapy product to integrate humidification, gas blending, flow control and full alarm functionality into one piece of equipment. The product is distributed in over 20 countries.

Results:

Improvements to the device included:

  • A state-of-the art digital gas blending system that provides the user ability to dial in Oxygen content and control flow rate from an intuitive graphical user interface
  • The creation of a low cost disposable cartridge design that reduces the need for cleaning and prevents the possibility of patient infection
  • A significantly easier set-up procedure for the caregiver
