Ximedica

Wearable Therapeutics

With an eye towards commercialization of its flagship technology Helius Medical looked to Ximedica and its Functional Outsourcing Model to meet its development goals and to create superior value to its investors

Challenge:

To commercialize a lab-based prototype into a clinical device targeted to a population with diminished cognitive ability.

Solution:

Early concept sessions led to a form factor that most closely met user needs. However, the desired discrete form factor meant engineers were faced with spatial constraints including a smart mouthpiece with interconnectivity as well as the challenge of designing a GUI that met the cognitive requirements of the user population.

Results:

The program has gone from napkin sketch to a fully functional clinical device in under 15 months. In addition, one patent has been issued in under six months and another 25 are pending. While clinical trials are currently underway a multi-thread manufacturing plan has been laid out.
