In assigning a team of researchers, social scientists, engineers and medical professionals Ximedica begins a customized and highly collaborative effort for continuous process improvement in the clinical setting.

Research and Discover.

Ximedica works with our client’s staff using qualitative and quantitative information gathering techniques, including contextual observation, to build task maps. These information-rich maps allow both staff and consultant to understand real vs. perceived workflow and patient safety problems and then identifies opportunities for improvement that truly address the issues. With their input represented, hospital staff ownership of the change begins.

Innovate and Co-Create.

Potential solution strategies are roughed out by drawing upon client insights, the advice and direction of content experts and careful consideration of best practices. A list of decision criteria created by the working team and the hospital leadership is weighted in refining a short list of potential solutions.

Align and Roadmap.

Working with the team, Ximedica stages and provides specific tactics that include the people, tools and environmental components of the planned change. Alignment with the change is literally chartered—documented goals, milestones, roles and responsibilities are clearly delineated and internal champions are coached to keep the internal team engaged through hand off and beyond. Validation will occur through piloting when pre- and post-pilot metrics will provide the final guide to full implementation.

Act and Measure.

With piloting complete and refinements made, a final package is launched complete with supporting tools, training plans, milestones and defined measures of success. With hospital staff involvement in every step of the process, adoption is more easily facilitated and sustained change is insured.
