Providence, RI—April 4, 2007—Ximedica (www.ximedica.com), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Item Group, specializing in the design, development, and manufacture of innovative new medical devices has appointed Gil DePaula and Liam O’Shea to its senior development team. As Principal Software Engineer, Gil DePaula has over 20 years experience in embedded software/hardware development and management, working internationally and in the US. In addition to leading software development projects, Gil will manage Ximedica’s issue tracking systems for client 510k and FDA applications. Liam O’Shea has joined Ximedica as a Senior Program Manager from Palomar Medical Technology where he was responsible for transitioning product through development to manufacturing. Originally from Ireland, Liam is an Opto Mechanical specialist who earned his BSME from Dublin University and is soon to finish his Masters in Engineering Management at Tufts University. Liam will provide the technical lead on all aspects of Ximedica programs to ensure smooth transition from research through design and engineering development and manufacturing.
