Director of Marketing

This is an opportunity to be part of the Marketing function for one of the most innovative and advanced medical device manufacturing companies in the business. We are experiencing tremendous growth, even during a down market and are looking to build the design team via this addition to the staff.

 

Position: The Director of Marketing is responsible for developing and executing Ximedica’s marketing and communications plans and ensuring that they successfully support the company’s overall business and brand objectives. This is a key position that must work closely with senior management, business development, and functional leadership teams to articulate and deliver impactful messages to targeted audiences, determine effective tactics, and develop a strong program of thought leadership throughout the organization.

We are seeking an experienced professional to help evolve Ximedica’s marketing outreach programs and expand the company’s visibility in its target markets. This will require someone who is: knowledgeable and conversant in the language of product innovation, design, development, and manufacturing, particularly within the medical and health care field; experienced in effectively marketing sophisticated professional services to both technical and executive audiences; an expert writer and speaker with an ability to combine technical content with fluent style and impactful presentation.

Ximedica is a leader in the outsourced innovation, development, and manufacturing of medical devices and consumer healthcare products and services. We are a dynamic, entrepreneurial company with a strong record of innovation and delivery. The Director of Marketing will serve as an active voice of the company and a key representative of the brand and its values. We require a high energy individual who can think strategically while implementing numerous concurrent tactical programs with attention to details.

This position will have at least one direct report. You must have prior experience managing and mentoring a team as well as actively managing the expectations and involvement of senior executives.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in developing and executing successful marketing communications programs in a sophisticated business to business environment. You must be well rounded and able to demonstrate superior writing skills, presentation ability, creative direction, knowledge of a broad range of marketing tactics, and business savvy.

Superior communications skills across a variety of styles are a must; candidates will need to show strong evidence of an ability to combine technical content with sophisticated creative treatment. Must be knowledgeable in social media. Direct experience in the medical device or consumer healthcare industry is required. Professional services and/or agency experience is a strong plus.

You must be highly motivated and comfortable working with a wide range of professionals including designers, engineers, manufacturing and operations experts, marketing, and business people. You must be results-driven and show evidence of high standards in prior work. At the same time, you must have strong interpersonal skills that invite collaboration, teamwork, and a collegial attitude.

You must also demonstrate a deep understanding of brand positioning and how to embody it in thematic, integrated marketing programs. You must have a discerning sense of strong visual creative and a sharp editorial sense in written communications. Mastery of PowerPoint and a strong working knowledge of Excel are also important.

A bachelors degree in a relevant field is expected; a masters degree is strongly preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Lead the company’s activities in public relations, social media, advertising, and event marketing
  • Manage the company’s online presence, including the web site and blog, as well as future vehicles such as a Twitter feed
  • Serve as the hub of content development for thought leadership pieces, speaking engagements, webinars, bylined articles, blog posts, and other content
  • Actively keep Ximedica’s brand image and creative platform fresh, relevant, and on-strategy and ensure consistent application in all communications media; work with internal and external resources to produce high quality materials
  • Actively promote and represent Ximedica’s involvement as knowledge experts and participants at relevant industry events; serve as primary liaison to groups such as AdvaMed, MassMEDIC, and others
  • Support the business development team with compelling and impactful presentation materials
  • Occasionally ghost write material for senior executives
  • Maintain a current and thorough understanding of client needs and satisfaction by actively participating in internal meetings, client meetings, and directly speaking to clients as appropriate; help maintain client satisfaction metrics and provide feedback to internal teams
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with the company’s agencies and contractors for marketing communications related support
  • Mentor and manage marketing staff; effectively and efficiently delegate activities as appropriate and track and monitor progress
  • Serve as an internal “brand champion” to ensure that other team members understand and convey Ximedica’s value proposition, differentiators, and proof points
  • Oversee the company’s CRM database and its use as a communications tool
  • Actively monitor industry publications and blogs and provide commentary as appropriate
  • Maintain up to date competitive intelligence and disseminate important news to the internal team
  • Recommend annual and quarterly budgets; hold budgetary responsibility for effective spending and ROI of programs
  • Manage joint marketing relationships
  • Measure and track key marketing and business development effectiveness metrics and provide periodic reports to senior management
