Position: The Director of Business Development shall develop and close development and manufacturing services business, with particular emphasis on “turnkey” products developed by Ximedica and supplied to our clients. The position requires 10-20 years of industry experience with a strong emphasis on medical devices.
Nature of Role: Reporting to the VP of Business Development, this individual directs, establishes, maintains and plans the overall policies and goals of the business development team. He/She identifies potential business partners and negotiates agreements. The ability to interact with clients from project initiation through the entire development process is a must.
Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred along with 10+ years of experience in the field of business development, including at least 5 years of program and/or project management in the medical device industry. The following key attributes are essential:
- Demonstrated success in developing and closing competitive technical proposals for product design, development and manufacturing
- Highly competent and experienced in new product development and project engineering of capital and disposable medical devices
- High level of understanding of a variety of technologies and manufacturing processes
- Project management experience to include scheduling, planning, budgeting, and leading
- Medical device industry experience to include sterile disposables, electro-mechanical, design/development/regulatory compliance
- Direct communication experience with doctors, nurses, and clinicians is preferred
- Superior written communication skills with a high degree of experience preferred in writing and developing proposals, work scope documents, technical reports, and status reporting
- Strong communication, organizational, time management and prioritizing skills; ability to “balance” engineering skills with practical, pragmatic, common sense solutions

Responsibilities:
- Prepares conceptual and detailed proposals on technical topics related to medical device design, development and manufacturing
- Represents Ximedica at selected trade shows, conferences, seminars, and other meetings and makes verbal presentations as required
- Develops client relationships, including meeting with representatives of existing and potential clients to describe Ximedica capabilities and to discuss potential projects to be undertaken by Ximedica
- Works collaboratively with external Client and Engineering to develop project plans, orchestrate the production schedule and ensure the completion of the project on time, on spec and on budget
- Stays abreast of new technology in materials and processes that are relevant to the medical device industry
